Our annual Noir-vember Film Fest! Join us for one, a couple, or all of our film noir screenings this year!

All screenings begin at 6:30pm

Monday, Nov 2

Nora Prentiss (1947) Starring Ann Sheridan and Kent Smith, directed by Vincent Sherman, cinematography by James Wong Howe. The humdrum life of a San Fransico doctor is turned upside down after he meets a nightclub singer. Affairs, and faking one’s own death should sort everything, right?

Monday, Nov 9

The Woman on Pier 13 (1949) Starring Laraine Day, Robert Ryan, and John Agar, directed by Robert Stevenson, cinematography by Nicholas Musuraca. Recent newlywed Brad, a San Fransico shipping executive, runs into his ex and his new wife Nan instantly doesn’t like her. Who knew Brad and his ex had a history with the Communist party during the depression? Add in Nan’s impressionable brother, the west coast docks, and a ruthless party operative and you have a Cold War Noir.

Monday Nov 16

The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) Starring Lana Turner, James Garfield, and Cecil Kellaway, directed by Tony Garnett, cinematography by Sidney Wagner. Film adaptation of the 1934 James Cain novel. A drifter gets a job at a service station just outside of LA and begins an affair with the owner’s much younger wife. Their attempt to get him out of the way so they can be together leads to murder, blackmail, and gets them into trouble with the local District Attorney. A Noir classic.

Monday, Nov 23

The Big Clock (1948) Starring Ray Milland, Charles Laughton, and Maureen O’Sullivan, directed by John Farrow, cinematography by John Seitz. An overworked magazine editor is named as the “mystery man” responsible for a murder. He tries to figure out the real culprit while not getting caught by the authorities. A lesser-known, but still much beloved Noir!

Monday, Nov 30

Dark Passage (1947) Starring Humphrey Bogart, and Lauren Bacall, directed by Delmer Daves, cinematography by Sidney Hickox. Convicted of killing his wife, Vincent Parry escapes San Quentin, and meets a wealthy woman, Irene, who wants to help him. Plastic surgery, and a string of murders the police want to pin on Vincent follow. Some creative camera work and a great cast make this a true Noir Classic.
