Traverse high cliffs and descend into deep caves, trek to remote waterfalls, and explore urban oases in Scenic Natural Wonders of Pennsylvania. This book showcases what Pennsylvanians already know: this commonwealth offers far more than just Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. From the Laurel Highlands region’s thundering Ohiopyle Falls to the northeast’s Salt Springs State Park and everywhere in between, this book covers it all. Each of the 84 carefully selected wonders showcases Pennsylvania’s diverse landscape. This book offers options for all levels of explorer, including roadside stops like Dry Run Falls to the strenuous nine-mile hike to the Pinnacle and Pulpit Rock. In this book you’ll climb to the top of Mount Nittany, view 700 species of wildflower in Raccoon Creek’s Wildflower Reserve, and take in sweeping views of the Susquehanna River from Hawk Rock. The description for each place shares information about the landmark and what to know when you get there. A must have for anyone who wants to get outside in Pennsylvania!
Tory Mather has explored hundreds of trails, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and more in the decade-plus since she moved to Pennsylvania. Through her focus on local exploration, she shows that you don’t have to go that far from home to find an amazing outdoor adventure. You can find her living in Pittsburgh with her husband and her rescue dog or making fun of herself on the internet @torytalkstrails. This is her first book.
There are copies of her book in the library system and you can purchase it from Amazon.
